Years later, he wrote his autobiography from a first person perspective. In a portion of his work he writes about his adventures and misadventures as he adjusted to life in Paris. This large work of 3,600 pages entitled Histoire de Ma Vie or The Story of my life in English is fascinating because he writes in French instead of Italian therefore giving the reader an idea of the struggles and differences of a foreigner who writes in a language other than his own, and points out some of the ambiguities not often found in works written by a native speaker.
